The Preview: Basketball
PENDLETON, Ore. - With fall sports winding down, our winter sports kick into gear as men's and women's basketball return to their normal seasons of competition after competing in the spring of 2021. With both teams looking to reload, rebound, and make a name for themselves going into a new year we are excited to see everything they do! Over 30 athletes between the men's and women's basketball teams will look to blaze a path to the NWAC tournament. Men's basketball is on the road to Walla Walla University tipping off at 6pm to start their season on October 21st, while the women's basketball team kicks off their season on November 19th at home against Edmonds for the Red Lion Classic.
Spectators
BMCC athletics is excited to welcome back our fans to the McCrae Activity Center to cheer on their Timberwolves. With that, the safety and health of our athletes have always come first. There is currently no limit on the capacity for spectators in the gym, however, this is subject to change. All fans will be required to wear a mask while they are in the gym regardless of vaccination status and a symptom check will be done at the door.
The Breakdown
Men's Basketball - The men's basketball team returns three players from the 2020-21 team. Returning to the Timberwolves is Jacob Holling, Keaston Young, and Cesar Ortiz. Twelve new student-athletes join the Timberwolves for the 2021-22 winter season. New to the program is Andrew Lyford, Casey Wright, Sam Patterson, Kyan Thompson, Byron Patt, AJ Floyd, Dawson Durham, Kash Lang, Jack Olson, Shea Traudt, Keegan Glenn, and Chad Napoleon. The men's basketball team finished with a record of 2-11 in the spring of 2021.
Women's Basketball - The women's basketball team returns five players from the 2020-21 team. Returning to the Timberwolves is McKeeley Tonkin, Brianna Kohr, Sydney Younger, Larissa Yazzie, and Tyler Blood. Eight new student-athletes join the Timberwolves for the 2021-22 winter season. Joining the women's basketball team is McKaylee Orton, Jaelyn Brainard, Gwen King, Jayden Benson, Ellie Acord, Jaden Chavez, Hannah Schvaneveldt, and Nane Lokotui. The women's basketball team looks to rebound from the spring of 2021 season even stronger.
